How I Started My Writing Journey

I was 16 when I started my first blog using a free platform called blogger. I was motivated to make one so that I can join google adsense and earn money from writing articles that hopefully people will love to read. Back in the day, google adsense gives a big amount of money to a lot of blogs but it declined over the years. Not many people read blogs now, they prefer videos and photos over boring texts.

Back in 2008, I started my first blog and I was able to apply to google adsense. I got rejected once but of course I tried again until finally I have ads running in my blog. Google Adsense is a way to earn money online by publishing ads in your website. Unfortunately, my google adsense account was deactivated for violating some terms and conditions before I can reach $100. Blogger also decided to also deactivate my blog and I could no longer access all the contents I made.

I can tell you my story more in another article about how I started my first blog .

I researched a lot about blogging that year. I decided to use WordPress in the future because I own the contents and a similar problem will not happen again. WordPress is not free but at least I will not be kicked out of my blog when the free platform decided that shutdown my blog.

I stopped blogging after my account was deactivated. I focused on my studies and forgot about writing because of the heavy school workload. I enrolled in the college of law after I graduated from my first course. It’s a path that my father wanted me to take devoid of any passion from my end. College of law is like a vortex that took away all my passion and creativity. That’s how I describe it.

After I graduated from the college of law and took the bar exam, I started my journey of finding purpose. I decided to start a new blog and use a host instead. I subscribed to zoom ph because of their affordable hosting package of PHP150 a month. Sadly, I was disappointed about how slow it was and how my website is always under maintenance. I mostly wrote book reviews but then I decided to try using WordPress and an international hosting provider. It took me a year before I started a new website because I have to retake my bar exam.

It’s difficult to start again but I already purchased my new domain name and got familiarized with WordPress, Cpanel, and tools that you need to start a website running. I started my first website, ikigaisimplicity, which I still have until now. I also applied for google adsense and it’s not working well. I earned my first $200 from that website. Ikigaisimplicity is inspired by my new understanding of a minimalist lifestyle to which I want to embrace.

My co-worker introduced me to a freelance writing job which, according to her, we can do part time. It’s Livingston Research which is a freelance writing job where you fulfill orders. The revenue is not that big but during 2020, I took a lot of writing jobs from them because I was bored and I want extra income. I thing I earned at least $1000 from it within 3 months but I stopped because I was busy addressing my mental health. I was ranked A, which is the highest ranking. When I wanted to start writing again, my account was deactivated because I refused to provide them with my private information like my ID and my photo with it while holding a newspaper with a date on it.

In 2022, everything resumed again and I was preoccupied with my office works that I neglected my blog and my writing plans. I tried to start writing again but I cannot commit to it. This time, I’m planning to start my writing career and embrace my passion for writing and art.

I tried running away from writing and art. I stopped drawing illustrations when I entered the college of law. I’ve been drawing pictures and writing stories since I was in 10 years old but all of that stopped in the college of law. But you see, you cannot really run away from your passion. I’d rather start late in life in pursuing what I love than do nothing about it at all.

So, I hope you can join me in my new journey of rekindling my passion for arts and finding ways to earn money from writing. This year, I intend to enroll in AB Communications so I can learn more about writing and expressing thoughts through words. I will be sharing it to you so feel free to watch.
